IS Scotland doing enough to tackle climate change? That’s the question experts will be exploring today at two events hosted by the Scottish Greens and Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) Scotland.
In a lecture and seminar, starting at 10am, economist Bill Mitchell, Scottish Green co-convener Lorna Slater and climate change specialist Hugh Muschamp will discuss how a Scottish Green New Deal could be created.
After this, a Q&A is taking place in which guests are encouraged to ask difficult questions and gain new knowledge on environmental issues.
The seminar will be more Scotland focused, so the visions presented will discuss Scotland as an independent country and as part of the UK.
From 2pm a workshop with Mitchell will be held which aims to help activists articulate to friends, family and politicians why there is an an alternative to austerity and how this can be achieved.
A spokesperson for MMT Scotland said this “will help teach activists useful economic knowledge and also use appropriate language”.
The workshop finishes at 4pm. Both events will be held at the Hilton Doubletree Hotel at 34 Bread Street, Edinburgh.
