AN auction of Oor Wullie statues which were displayed across Scotland has raised almost £320,000 for charity.

A total of 60 life-sized and four mini-sculptures went under the hammer at Prestonfield House in Edinburgh this week to help raise vital funds for Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity (ECHC).

In total, the Oor Wullie’s Big Bucket Trail auction raised £318,000.

The highest grossing sculpture was Tom Gilzean, which was located on Princes Street over the summer, and raised a staggering £13,000. It was designed by Chris Rutterford and sponsored by Central Taxis and The Golden Keys.

Other top sellers included Thistle Do Nicely by artist Billy Hutchinson, which sold for £10,000, and Oor Tiger by Donna Forrester, sold for £8000.

Roslyn Neely, CEO of ECHC, said: “Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail has been phenomenal and the support we have had from the people of Edinburgh has been just amazing.

“Thanks to everyone’s generosity, the incredible, life-changing work of Scotland’s children’s hospital charities continues and we can ensure that children, young people and their families are better supported and have a positive hospital experience.”
