EMELI Sandé returned to her home city of Aberdeen last night for the premiere of her new BBC Scotland series, Emeli Sandé’s Street Symphony.
The award-winning singer-songwriter was joined at the Lemon Tree by some of the city’s talented street musicians whom she met on her TV search for Scotland’s best buskers
They viewed the first episode of the four-part series – due to be shown on BBC Scotland from September 19 – along with an audience that included Sandé’s parents Joel and Diane and sister Lucy.
In the series, Sandé picks her favourite buskers after searching in Aberdeen, Perth, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Her six final acts get expert voice tuition and have their compositions orchestrated. They then perform a song of their own and a duet with Sandé in the concert that forms the series finale at Glasgow’s City Halls with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
