PREPARATIONS are going smoothly for the All Under One Banner (AUOB) march and rally for independence which is set for Perth on Saturday.
The march will leave from Seven Acres Park at 1pm and will follow a route through Newhouse Road, Crieff Road, Dunkeld Road, Barrack Street, Atholl Street, Kinnoull Street, High Street and Tay Street to finish at the North Inch, where the rally will have speakers and live entertainment for the rest of the afternoon.
It is the seventh of the eight marches on AUOB’s national tour this year, with only Edinburgh on October 5 to complete the season.
The Yes Bikers have confirmed their participation while the march will be led by the Saor Alba pipes and drums.
To allow the march, Perth and Kinross Council will temporarily close a number of roads on a rolling basis from 12.30pm onwards and there will be a ban on parking and loading on these streets. There will also be temporary speed limits in place on the day, but pedestrian areas will not be affected by these road closures.

A council spokesperson said: “we will aim to have the roads reopened as quickly as possible.”
Mid Scotland and Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser sent a ‘welcome’ message: “People have a right to march in a free and democratic society, but I’m surprised that they’re coming to Perth given that the local population rejected independence so decisively in 2014.”
