THE third annual Forward as One march and rally for independence brought thousands of independence supporters on to the streets of Dunfermline on Saturday.
A thunderous throttling roar from the Yes Bikers greeted the marchers as they entered Pittencrieff Park led by the Saor Alba Pipes and Drums.
Hundreds of Saltires and flags of other countries fluttered in the high winds that did not affect the march.

Dunfermline and West Fife SNP MP Douglas Chapman tweeted: “A peaceful, friendly, well organised march for independence today in Dunfermline. I started at the front of the march ended up at the back as I stopped to chat to so many constituents. Great craic all the way!”
Calling on No voters to think again, the veteran independence campaigner and blogger Peter A Bell told the rally: “The Union is an abomination, an affront to democracy and an insult to the people of Scotland.
“The Union was created in a different age, an age before democracy. It had nothing to do with the interests of the people of Scotland or England. It was solely for the benefit of an economic and political elite.

“The successors of that elite are the inheritors of privilege and they are the ones who continue to benefit from the Union.
“Brexit amply demonstrates how the Union makes Scotland subordinate and inferior and inconsequential.
“But I have a message for our First Minister. Brexit is not the problem, the Union is the problem.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
