US PRESIDENT Donald Trump branded Boris Johnson "great" after the PM today revealed plans to suspend parliament ahead of Brexit.

The Queen approved an order today to prorogue Parliament, no earlier than September 9 and no later than September 12, until October 14 - just two weeks before Brexit.

Trump, who has previously announced his support for Brexiteer Johnson, praised the move and added the PM is "exactly what the UK has been looking for".

He tweeted: "Would be very hard for Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of Britain’s Labour Party, to seek a no-confidence vote against New Prime Minister Boris Johnson, especially in light of the fact that Boris is exactly what the U.K. has been looking for, & will prove to be “a great one!” Love U.K."

Johnson has been compared to a "dictator" today for the move which restricts the time available for MPs to prevent a No-Deal Brexit.

The Government's own Operation Yellowhammer document has shown a No-Deal Brexit will likely result in food and drink shortages, medicine supply problems, public unrest and a range of other issues.

Johnson has denied today's move is related to Brexit.
