A HUGE mosaic has been made by more than 100 people – out of sea glass and broken plates.

Created over the last 10 years, the South Queensferry Mosaic Mural depicts iconic landmarks of the area.

The 13-metre mosaic was constructed in 32 separate pieces before being stitched together by artist Mike Spring, who ran workshops for locals to create the design. Unveiled at Hawthorn Bank community garden in South Queensferry, it includes the Forth Rail Bridge and Queen Margaret crossing the Firth of Forth.

The community garden was created by charity Greenferry after the area became derelict and unused in 2014. The mosaic is the last stage of the garden’s transformation after rubbish was cleared away, a platform with a view of the Forth Bridge was installed and flowers planted.
