ORGANISERS of a new festival hope their three-day event will become “a key date in Scotland’s annual festival diary”.

The Doonhame Festival will take place in the grounds of the Crichton in Dumfries.

Curated by a local team of music and festival enthusiasts, Doonhame will feature four stages of live acts and DJs such as rising four-piece Wrest, Glasgow dance label Dixon Avenue Basement Jams and Miracle Glass Company (pictured, right), the indie-blues trio selected to support Kaiser Chiefs at their concerts in Montrose and Inverness.

Also appearing will be DJ legend Trendy Wendy, jazz and funk guru Rebecca Vasmant and Van Ives, a mellow, genre-hopping duo from Castle Douglas.

Doonhame will also include a programme of children’s entertainment set in a big top, a family fairground and a relaxation area where visitors can drop in and chill out.

Gwilym Gibbons, chief executive of the Crichton Trust, said the team is “thrilled” to be hosting the first edition of the festival.

She went on: “We hope the festival will become a key date in Scotland’s annual festival diary and introduce new people to our extraordinary place and welcome back regulars to experience all the Crichton offers, as a stunning backdrop to a new family friendly music festival.”
