'You have to feel some sympathy for John Swinney
YOU have to have some sympathy for John Swinney. A decent guy trying to educate the weans with both council and Holyrood budgets constrained by Westminster.
So given the rate of higher passes has fallen by around 2% you could guess the predictable response from the Unionist spokespersons and equally Unionist press and TV.
It’s over 40 years since I sat a Higher, but I strongly suspect that the same set of exam papers as last year were not used, so for a start we are not comparing like with like.
Had the pass rate increased the same doom mongers would say the papers were getting too easy!

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
