ALL Under One Banner confirmed last night that it had sacked Manny Singh, the organisation’s director of operations, after a conduct hearing in Glasgow yesterday.

Singh is refusing to accept his dismissal and is questioning the right of the National Executive (NE) group of All Under One Banner (AUOB) to sack him.

Singh was the named organiser for AUOB for its march and rally in

Glasgow and was reported to the Procurator Fiscal for an alleged breach of Section 65 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 as he allegedly stuck to the original route and timing of the march despite Glasgow City Council’s licensing committee ordering changes.

The law states that anyone convicted of holding a procession that does not comply with the relevant council order can be sentenced to imprisonment for a period of up to three months.

The latest AUOB developments, as reported in The National on Saturday, revolve around Singh’s alleged conduct in recent weeks. It is understood he has made allegations of misconduct in relation to finance against other AUOB office bearers.

A statement was issued on behalf of AUOB’s national executive last night. It read: “The National Executive of All Under One Banner (AUOB) today, 21st July 2019, engaged in what we hoped would be a fair and transparent conduct hearing for Mr Mandeep Singh so as to resolve all current issues … 14 of the 18 official AUOB National executive members who were present unanimously voted to dismiss Mr Singh with immediate effect from the organisation All Under One Banner.”

The statement continued: “To conclude, we wish to assure the independence movement that it is business as usual for the team at AUOB with the remainder of this year’s marches and rallies fully set to be hosted and delivered as scheduled.”

Manny Singh said: “This statement is not factual. It was a kangaroo court. I will be releasing my statement in due course to clarify everything that has taken place, and the movement itself can make up its own mind about what has happened and why.”

AOUB have assured the public that marches and rallies will go ahead as planned.

In a statement last night, they said: “We wish to assure the independence movement that it is business as usual for the team at AUOB with the remainder of this year’s marches and rallies fully set to be hosted and delivered as scheduled, but first we look forward to seeing maximum attendance at the ‘Say No to Boris Johnson! Independence Now!’ protest at Glasgow’s Buchanan Steps on Tuesday at 5pm, followed by the March For Independence in Campbeltown on Saturday.”
