STAFF at a Scottish animal charity have stars in their eyes after the launch of a new campaign.

Dogs Trust has launched a series of mini-films celebrating rescue dogs and their owners to encourage people wanting to welcome a dog into their life to adopt not shop, using the hashtag #MyDogIsForLife to join the conversation.

Over the course of a year, new owners who have chosen to give a rescue dog a second chance were asked by the rehoming centre team to catch their favourite moments on camera to show the lifelong bond they now share – with joyful results.

One-year-old husky Meeko was brought into the Glasgow Rehoming Centre when he was just a young puppy. Although he was quite nervous around new people, when Jenny and Michael came to meet him a few times with their children, he warmed to the family very quickly.

Since going home with Jenny and Michael, Meeko has received lots of valuable socialisation with other people and dogs; and his best friends are Jenny and Michael’s children, Marissa, Katie and Calvin.

Jenny said: “Ever since Meeko came into our lives he has been such a big presence and we couldn’t imagine our home without him. The kids absolutely adore him and you can tell how much he loves them too.”
