THE leader of pro-Welsh-independence party Plaid Cymru held up The National's front page during FMQs earlier today.

While asking Welsh first minister Mark Drakeford about his independence views, Adam Price revealed today's front page which reads: "Welsh Labour: We won't rule out backing independence".

Yesterday, FM Drakeford suggested support for the Union was conditional and could change if Scotland went independent or Northern Ireland joined the Republic.

Today during the FMQs, Price asked: "Are you now officially indy-curious?".

Drakeford replied: "Here, in this party, we are a devolutionist party. We firmly believe that decisions that are made on the future of services that are pertinent to Wales should be made only by people who live in Wales.

"But we believe in a successful United Kingdom as well. Plaid Cymru stand unambiguously for independence. That’s what they will be offering the people of Wales in any election. An ambition and a determination to take Wales out of the United Kingdom. Everything they do and everything they say, as we saw yesterday, is seen through that lens. I’m very happy that that is the case because I do not think for a moment the people of Wales are in that position and I certainly am not.”

Price responded: “So if I can summarise your answer; we’re unambiguously in favour of independence, you’re ambiguously in favour of independence. It’s a definite maybe from the first minister."
