Britain’s Next Prime Minister: The ITV Debate (STV, 8pm)
WITH the identity of Britain’s next PM being announced two weeks today, here’s another chance for Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt to convince the Tory party members that they are the right person for the top job. To become leader and get into No 10, one of the men will have to secure the backing of the majority of the 160,000 party members. And with this programme being the final chance for the duo to go head to head on topics such as education, the NHS, foreign policy and, of course, Brexit, expect the exchanges to get heated.

Ackley Bridge (C4, 8pm)
SAM and Nas are caught shoplifting, which causes a rift between them, but Sam’s mother Nadine is proud of her and pushes her to get more involved with the Murgatroyds’s criminal activities. Martin puts his family in danger when he tries to intervene and save Sam. Meanwhile, Nas considers her future in the wake of recent events and Sue’s nose is put out of joint when Mandy favours Kaneez for a job in her department – and the Parachas and Booths are intent on her getting it.

Charles I: Downfall of a King (BBC4, 9pm)
IN this three-part series, continuing tomorrow and Thursday, historian Lisa Hilton discovers how in just 50 tempestuous days Charles I’s rule collapsed, laying the foundations for civil war, the loss of Royal power and – ultimately – the King’s head. We begin in November 1641. King Charles I is in Edinburgh, but while he is away from his capital, the leader of the House of Commons, John Pym, is plotting a move to limit his power. The duel between these two men will spiral across the next weeks into an irrecoverable split.

Judi Dench’s Wild Borneo Adventure (STV, 9pm)
THE actress journeys more than 560km down Borneo’s Kinabatangan River and along the island’s coastline to explore the unique wildlife that lives in this threatened environment. Scientist Kerisha Kntayya plucks young crocodiles out of the water. Judi then joins Kerisha’s team as they wrestle an adult crocodile, as part of the study Kerisha hopes will help save these prehistoric creatures. The Oscar winner also explores the Gomantong Cave, home to more than a million bats.
