Anna: The Woman Who Went to Fight ISIS, BBC2, 9.30pm

TWO years ago, Anna Campbell from Lewes in East Sussex travelled in secret to Syria. The 25-year-old was heading for Rojava, the Kurdish territory in the north of the country. In the midst of the civil war in Syria, a feminist democracy had been established, but soon came under threat from Daesh. Eight months after arriving and with no military background, Anna was on the front line intending to fight with Kurdish Women’s Protection Units (YPJ). She was killed a month later by a Turkish air strike. With the aid of her diary and videos filmed while she was there, this film, part of the This World strand, explores what motivated Anna to leave, and how her family are coping with the consequences.

The Restaurant that Makes Mistakes, C4, 9pm

In the final episode, Michelin-starred chef Josh Eggleton is determined to keep pushing the volunteers and decides to completely transform the restaurant’s menu, and tests the limit of the volunteers ability to cope with change by taking them away from the comfort of the restaurant and setting them to work at an event for local employers. As the experiment draws to a close, dementia specialist Dr Zoe Wyrko explores whether there has been a measurable improvement with the volunteers.
