George Clarke’s Old House, New Home (C4, 8pm)

EVENTS manager Mitch and kitchen designer Elliot recently bagged themselves a bargain home in Kent, and wasted no time in gutting the interior. The only problem is, now they have no idea where everything should go and how to add style and proportion while sticking to their monochrome design throughout. Enter George Clarke to give them a few tips. The architect also pays a visit to a workshop where bespoke antique mirrors are made.

Psychopath with Piers Morgan (STV, 9pm)

IN 2007, when Paris Bennett was 13 years old, he stabbed his four-year-old sister to death, a crime for which he has been behind bars ever since. Now 25 and in his first interview on British television, he tells Piers Morgan how this was no impulsive fit of rage but rather a cold, deliberate act planned as an act of revenge against his mother Charity – who is watching the interview unfold in a nearby room. She has stood by him even though she fears that when he gets out, he could still harbour violent intentions towards her or his younger brother.

Catch-22 (C4, 9pm)

CHRISTOPHER Abbott takes the lead role in this adaptation of Joseph Heller’s groundbreaking 1961 novel. He plays Yossarian, the US Air Force bombardier who is convinced everyone is out to kill him – a problem compounded by the top brass’s decision to keep increasing the number of missions he must fly. As a result, he takes desperate measures to get home, while mess officer Milo Minderbinder reveals how he sees the war as a growth industry.

Mock the Week (BBC2, 10pm)

OF all the various projects on Dara O Briain’s immense workload, such as the pending Stargazing Live, Family Brain Games and the revamp of Blockbusters, the series which made his name is arguably the least demanding. Okay, from his point of view he does have to put up with being compared to an economy bus company’s mascot most weeks, but it’s Hugh Dennis and company who do the heavy lifting as this week’s offering proves. This week Allen is joined by Angela Barnes, Ed Byrne, Sophie Duker and Milton Jones.
