ACCLAIMED fiddler and composer Lauren MacColl is taking her stunning album The Seer across Scotland this summer, alongside new material which she will share for the first time. Commissioned by Highland arts organisation Feis Rois and premiered at Celtic Connections, The Seer is a 45-minute suite of music based on the life and prophecies of 17th-century prophet, The Brahan Seer.
Growing up on the Black Isle, Lauren (pictured, left) has long been immersed in the tales deeply embedded in the rich aural culture of the Highlands.
The Seer, which was shortlisted for Album of the Year and Composer of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards 2018, draws on this inspiration from place and people and uses a notably dark undercurrent to create a memorable sound.

MacColl will be joined on stage by folk luminaries Mairearad Green, Rachel Newton, Anna Massie, Megan Henderson and Signy Jakobsdottir.
“I’m delighted to be playing this string of dates in venues across the country this summer and to be able to share new material alongside The Seer with audiences across Scotland,” says MacColl. “I’m thrilled to present the album with the full line-up of wonderful musicians and to share the legacy of the Brahan Seer in a compelling performance for everyone that comes along.”
