THE full and final route for the All Under One Banner march in Oban next Saturday has been agreed between the organisers and the police and council authorities.

An attempt was made by a Tory councillor, Alastair Redman, to have Argyll and Bute Council refuse permission for the march to take place at all on grounds that it would lead to “the disruption to life of the community”.

He was seconded by independent councillor George Freeman, but the Licensing Committee voted to allow the march to proceed.

Neil Mackay of All Under One Banner argued the case before the Licensing Committee and said around 1700 people were expected on the day.

He pointed to AUOB’s record in organising safe marches over the past few years.

After further discussions with the police and council officials, march organiser Fiona Cameron has agreed the final route with them.

The march will start from Atlantis Leisure Car Park and proceed via Breadalbane Street, George Street, Argyll Square, Combie Street, and Glencruitten Road to Mossfield Stadium where the rally will take place.

All those intending to participate should gather at the Atlantis from 1.45pm with the departure at 2.30pm prompt.

There are still tickets available for buses leaving from outside Glasgow City Chambers at 10.30am prompt, returning to the same place at 10.30pm that night. Tickets are priced at £13 return and can be obtained from AUOB and eventbrite.
