POLICE Scotland has appealed for information as they continue their investigations into the alleged “sabotage” of the Yes Bikers.
The bikers were attending the All Under One Banner (AUOB) march in Galashiels on Saturday when witnesses reported that screws were in the road on their approach.
At least seven bikes suffered punctures and some of the vehicles had children riding pillion. One Yes Biker, Tony Dunlop, said “no way was it an accident”.
Yesterday, The National exclusively revealed shocking images which appeared to show screws in the road as bikers rode from Earlston on the A68 on a route away from the main march.

No-one was injured as the Yes Bikers were going slowly at the time, but Police Scotland have launched an investigation and are taking the matter seriously.
In a statement to The National, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police in the Scottish Borders received reports of screws on the A68 at Earlston on Saturday, June 1.
“[Road contractors] Amey were called to clear the road of screws. Anyone who may have information regarding the circumstances of this incident should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1879 of June 1.”
Also on Saturday, English Scots for Yes were targeted by when a Unionist counter-demonstrators shouted “traitors” at them.
AUOB director of operations Manny Singh has overall charge of the group’s stewarding and safety procedures.
His guidelines to participants state: “It is very important to note that any counter demonstrations will be handled by specialised stewards.
“Marchers can either ignore the counter-demonstrators or smile and wave.
There should be no standing beside them or mixing in with them – our movement doesn’t need any negative publicity. Do not play their game.”
