CHANGE UK could be about to fold, with around half the party's MPs considering quitting.

Barely three months after it formed, the party created by pro-Remain Labour and Tory MPs is already on its last legs.

According to the Guido Fawkes blog, at least five of the party’s dozen MPs want it to disband.

It follows Change’s disastrous campaign for the EU elections, when they failed to get any MEPs elected.

Some in the party are said to be keen on joining the Lib Dems, while a handful of others want Change UK to persevere.

One of the party’s MPs told PoliticsHome: "We’re hoping to discuss plans for developing party structures and our policy platform over the summer with new interventions on the Brexit crisis.

"I’m committed for the long haul. If that’s not a view shared by others I’ll wait to hear more in the meeting."

The party was initially formed by Labour MPs, including Chuka Umunna, Luciana Berger, Chris Leslie and Mike Gapes, quit their party in protest over Jeremy Corbyn’s position on Brexit.

They were then joined by anti-Brexit Conservative MPs Anna Soubry, Heidi Allen and Sarah Wollaston.

Allen and Umunna are believed to be among those considering defecting, again.

During the European election campaign, David MacDonald, the party's lead candidate in Scotland quit and urged voters to back the Lib Dems.
