THE second big Yes march of 2019 takes place in Galashiels today and organisers All Under One Banner are aiming to send a special message to Tory leadership candidate Sajid Javid.

It is the group’s first venture into the Borders Council, an area which returned one of the biggest No votes in Scotland in 2014.

But AUOB director of operations Manny Singh said the march is perfect timing after Javid – and other contenders to replace Theresa May – stated they would not be prepared to grant Nicola Sturgeon a Section 30 order for indyref2.

Singh said: “Sajid Javid earlier this week, along with many other Conservative and Unionist puppets of Westminster oligarchs, came out shouting and stating that there is no way Scotland will be permitted another independence referendum.

“He obviously hasn’t seen AUOB yet. We have a message for you – watch this space Sajid.

“It is ironic watching all of the leadership contender scramble for publicity, in their quest to fill Theresa May’s leopard-skin kitten heels, and gloss over the fact they were thrashed at the EU elections.”

The march will leave Scott Park at 1.30pm and will take the following route: Livingston Place, Scott Street, Scott Crescent, Elm Row, Lawyers Brae, St John Street, Bank Street, High Street, Channel Street, Market Street, Cornmill Square, St John Street, Scott Street, Livingston Place, Scott Park.

The National will have a special eight-page pullout on Monday packed with pictures from the event.
