Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that the 34-year-old lifted up his jacket to highlight a Union flag T-shirt underneath as the bikers passed.

He ran into traffic, shouting and gesturing with his fists before spitting towards the motorcyclists. Bates, from Bridgeton, then removed his trousers and underpants to show his backside.

The Procurator Fiscal Depute told the court he then began “slapping his buttocks”.

His rampage, which caused motorcyclists to swerve in the road in order to avoid causing an accident by running into him, finally ended when he spat a second time at the bikers.
