THE trial of a dozen Catalan pro-independence leaders is scheduled to finish on June 11, according to an official communiqué to defence lawyers from the Supreme Court.

Sessions next week have been earmarked for “documentary evidence”, the past phase before closing statements, when video evidence will be shown from the days before and after the October 2017 independence referendum.

The public and private prosecutors, including the far-right Vox party, will make closing arguments and proposed verdicts and sentences on June 3.

Defence teams will deliver their closing arguments on June 10, before the defendants make their closing remarks on June 11.

Each of the accused will be given 15 minutes to make their closing statements, almost four months after the trial started.
