THE Van T’s are back with a new single about “taking back control” – although the stadium-ready

track has nothing to do

with Brexit.

Released via Big Indie Records, the high-energy surf-grunge number sizzles with attitude, with twin sisters Hannah and Chloe Van Thompson daring the listener to “take it all, it’s yours!”.

Control follows a busy spring for the Glasgow quartet, which included appearances at

Brighton’s Great Escape festival and tour dates in England

as part of This Feeling, a night Noel Gallagher describes as “the best club in the UK for future rock and roll stars”.

The Van T’s will play their next gigs on home turf at Electric Fields in July and as the only Scottish act on the Summer Sessions bill supporting Foo Fighters at Bellahouston Park on August 17 alongside Slaves and Frank Turner.

The band said they had fun writing the track and that Control is about “wanting to capture a sense of having freedom in a situation where external factors may compromise this”. The Van T’s add: “These factors could be that you’re in a controlling relationship or perhaps work/stress is getting too much and is affecting your health.

“The song is essentially about taking back control of your life and confronting these issues one might be facing.”
