DECORATING Glasgow’s Duke of Wellington statue has long symbolised Scots’ celebrated sense of humour. Its latest makeover has not disappointed.

Aside from its usual traffic cone hat (doubled up for good measure), the statue has been given a facelift, with a mask of Scottish singing sensation Lewis Capaldi stuck on the front.

Wearing the sunglasses he frequently wears in viral social media posts, the singer’s face was spotted by a Twitter user and quickly shared online.

Capaldi himself was delighted with the honour, declaring his love for the city.

The 22-year-old exploded onto the music scene in 2018 and reached number one on the UK singles chart with his single Someone You Loved earlier this year.

The stunt has proved to be a useful promotional campaign for Capaldi, who releases his debut album on Friday.
