BACK To The Future fans can ... go back to the future when the film is shown with the accompaniment of a full symphony orchestra later this month.

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra will perform the score in sync with the legendary 1980s Michael J Fox movie in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Neil Thomson will conduct the music, which included 15 minutes of additional music by composer Alan Silvestri.

Thomson is renowned for his performances of symphonic and film music. He gave the premiere of the newly reconstructed score for Singin’ In The Rain at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in 2013. Other film music performances include Psycho, Vertigo, Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, Fantasia, Amadeus

and Titanic. Last year, he conducted the premiere of Gene Kelly: A Life in Music alongside the RSNO.

Thomson has also performed with distinguished soloists such as Sir James Galway, Dame Moura Lympany, Sir Thomas Allen, Dame Felicity Lott, Philip Langridge, Sarah Chang and Dame Evelyn Glennie.

Performances will be at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh, on Friday, May 24 (7.30pm) and at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Saturday, May 25 (2.30pm and 7.30pm). For more, visit www.rsno.org.uk.
