1 YOU may not have taken part in any of the recent climate change protests but you can help the cause by putting on your dancing shoes and going along to a family friendly, fund-raising ceilidh in Edinburgh tonight. The ceilidh is a chance to support Extinction Rebellion and have fun while doing so. There will be live music, dancing, a raffle, snacks, a bar and stalls. The knees-up begins at 7pm at St Peter’s Church in Lutton Place.

2 HOT on the heels of the Mary Queen of Scots movie comes a tour of a darkly comic play inspired by her life but given a distinctly modern twist. The one-woman show was created by actress Sarah MacGillivray and director Phil Bartlett and was well received at Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Marie isn’t a biopic but focuses on a Scottish actress who plays the part of the ill-fated queen at a historically themed London pub run by a woman called Liz. It is at Birnam on Wednesday night before going on to St Andrews and Crieff.

3 SCOTLAND’S very own rhinestone cowboy is taking his songs on the road again and is at Motherwell Concert Hall on Friday night. 7 A REMARKABLE exhibition capturing the work and vibrancy of Glasgow’s shipyards begins at the city’s art club on Saturday. Shipyard has been created by Scottish artist and broadcaster Lachlan Goudie, and the exhibition is an unprecedented artistic exploration of contemporary Scottish shipbuilding across a range of different mediums and draws on hundreds of images Goudie created at Scotstoun, Govan and Rosyth over a seven year study between 2009 and 2016. Around 70 artworks document the construction of the next generation of the country’s naval vessels and bring to life those who work on them.
