A BBC newsreader has had a ruff afternoon after struggling to get through a segment about the Holyrood Dog of the Year competition.

Simon McCoy had the camera turn around and film the autocue to draw attention to the barking-mad number of puns he was being asked to read out.

McCoy said: "I just want to show you what I have to read right now."

After reading the story, he put his head in his hands and exclaimed "I trained for this."

We agree McCoy ... the BBC has really gone to the dogs ...
