SCHOOLS and young people will be at the centre of a programme of planned activities during Inverness Science Festival, which blasts off later this month.

The annual event’s family programme includes a science scavenger hunt at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) Inverness campus, a periodic table trail at the Victorian Market and Lego sessions at Inverness library.

The festival – from April 29-May 11 – is organised by UHI’s science technology engineering and maths (STEM) team.

Samantha Clark, the STEM development manager, said: “With over 30 science themed events for both adults and children happening across the city, we can’t wait to celebrate science and technology in Inverness.”

Science Minister, Richard Lochhead, added: “With real-life examples tailored to the local environment, including several events specifically for the whole family, Inverness Science Festival’s wide-ranging programme makes science accessible to communities in the Highlands.”

The programme can be seen on the festival website at www.uhi.ac.uk/isf or follow Inverness Science Festival on Facebook and at #InvSciFest on Twitter.
