LUCY Kirkwood’s smash-hit, award-winning play has been expanded to fill four, hour-long episodes and features an impressive cast that includes Cherry Jones, Sophie Okonedo and F Murray Abraham. However, it’s Alessandro Nivola who takes the lead role of Lee Berger, an American photojournalist who shot to fame via an iconic image captured during the crisis in Tiananmen Square. However, 30 years on, he’s somewhat jaded after spending much of the intervening period in some of the world’s most dangerous and challenging places. Berger is forced to re-engage with his career when he’s accused of faking a photograph.

Inside John Lewis: Profits and Problems, Channel 5, 9pm

JOHN Lewis was in the news last month when it was revealed that profits at the partnership sank in 2018 by more than 45% to £160 million. This revealing documentary goes behind the scenes of the British institution to reveal how the store rose to become a high street giant. With exclusive access to the brand’s Oxford Street flagship shop, it uncovers the inner workings of the company and follows the work of its staff and the customers who visit the store. Plus, the programme looks at John Lewis’ “never knowingly undersold” promise which came under scrutiny in a consumer investigation.
