I FOUND the report “Tory appears to back NHS privatisation” (April 3) to be an interesting insight into Scottish Conservatives’ thinking in relation to the NHS.

Perhaps it is because the Scottish NHS is generally acknowledged to be performing rather well when compared with the other countries in the UK. This is contrary to the Conservative party’s belief that Scotland is not fit to make a success of anything and needs to be controlled by Westminster.

It will be interesting to see if other leading Conservatives back MSP Michelle Ballantyne’s call to privatise the NHS in Scotland and if she will herself promote her proposal if she stands for re-election to the Scottish Parliament.

I may be mistaken but I do not think such a proposal will be a vote winner with the Scottish electorate. Time will tell!
