THE Scottish Conservatives are suspected to be preparing for a snap General Election after campaign material was delivered to constituencies across Scotland.
Leaflets bearing the face of party leader Ruth Davidson have reportedly been delivered in the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey; Central Ayrshire; Argyll & Bute; and Edinburgh South West constituencies over the past few days.
Each leaflet claims that "only Ruth Davidson's Scottish Conservatives can beat the SNP here".

Speculation that Theresa May could call a snap election has been growing as the deadlock over Brexit continues. With no means of resolving the impasses, the Prime Minister's top aides have reportedly been pressing May to call another election in the hopes that it resolves the Brexit crisis.

SNP MP Joanna Cherry, who represents one of the targetted constituencies, addressed the leaflets on Twitter, saying that she would "relish" the chance to take on Ruth Davidson "over her party's #BrexitShambles and her woeful constituency work rate".

Twitter user @SnooziSuzi4 shared a photo early on Tuesday morning of the leaflet she recieved in Edinburgh South West, asking "are Tories gearing up for a general election?"
A Scottish Conservatives spokesman said “Leaflets showing we’re the only party that can stand up to the SNP are given out across Scotland regularly, and would be distributed regardless of the current situation with Brexit.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
