A FORMER Gwent Police officer would have been sacked if he hadn't resigned, a misconduct panel decided today.

Clarke Joslyn was accused of misconduct relating to his behaviour towards several of his former girlfriends.

The panel reconvened today (Friday, March 22) to deliver its decision on its findings and outcome, following a three-day hearing between January 30 and February 1.

Mr Joslyn resigned from the police when the hearing was initially begun in November 2018.

He did not appear at the three-day hearing, at which two women gave evidence against him.

In a statement, a Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "Gwent Police expects the highest standards of behaviour from its staff.

"Mr Joslyn resigned from Gwent Police – however, the outcome of this hearing indicates that had he remained as an officer he would have been dismissed."

And deputy chief constable Pam Kelly said: “We expect all our officers and staff to act with integrity and conduct themselves professionally at all times.

“I would especially like to thank those who came forward with their concerns.”
