Pointless: The Good, the Bad & the Bloopers, BBC1, 6.10pm
IT’S been a decade since Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman first presented an episode of the much-loved quiz. Although the Beeb’s powers-that-be were probably hoping it would prove to be a hit with viewers, few could have imagined it would become a TV phenomenon. The duo return tonight with a special edition to mark the show’s 10th anniversary, featuring outtakes and unforgettable moments. Among the highlights are classic nonsensical answers, exciting big wins and a glimpse at parts of the show never seen before.
Catchpoint, BBC1, 6.50pm
HE has recently taken over from Fearne Cotton as a captain on Celebrity Juice alongside his pal Keith Lemon, and will been hosting the new series of Top Gear with Freddie Flintoff when it returns to our screens in the autumn. But Paddy McGuinness’ assault on the TV schedules hasn’t finished there – he’s the host of this new physical game show, from the producers of The Weakest Link and 5 Gold Rings. Contestants attempt to win a cash prize using their brains, as they answer a series of questions – before trying to catch balls of various sizes dropped from the studio ceiling.
The Voice UK, STV, 8pm
WE are nearing the end of this year’s competition, as Emma Willis hosts the second of the Knockout shows. Twelve acts will be competing for a place in next week’s live semi-final but coaches Jennifer Hudson, Will.i.am, Tom Jones and Olly Murs are only allowed to pick one performer each. Thankfully, help is at hand, with guest judges Anne-Marie, James Arthur, Olly Alexander and Nicole Scherzinger around to help the quartet with the inevitably tough choices that lie ahead. Which of the singers will make it through and move one step closer to a recording contract with Polydor Records? And whose dreams of musical success will be dealt a crushing blow?
The Royal Family at War, C5, 9.50pm
WHEN members of the Royal Family fall out, it doesn’t just affect the individuals involved – there can be consequences for the future of the monarchy and the country as a whole. This two-part documentary begins with one of the most acrimonious and public marriage breakdowns in history – that of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales. There are stories from staff who experienced the collapse of the relationship, including, of course, butler Paul Burrell. Plus, the programme also looks at the biggest crisis the Crown has ever faced, King Edward VIII’s abdication, and the row between his bride, Wallis Simpson, and the Queen Mother. And from one of the biggest stories of the past, to modern-day royals – does the rumoured feud between the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex spell the end for the “Fab Four”?
The Jonathan Ross Show, STV, 10pm
THE host is joined this week by Hollywood stars Colin Farrell and Danny DeVito, who will be appearing in Tim Burton’s new live-action remake of classic Disney animation Dumbo. Also dropping in are double Olympic boxing champion Nicola Adams, and actress and stand-up comedian Lolly Adefope, recently seen in This Time with Alan Patridge and who kicks off a UK tour in Glasgow this week. Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi completes the guest list.
