IT is revealing how EU representatives, PMs and MPs from EU countries and officials have reacted to the latest Westminster debacle in Parliament and to their direct experience of UK politicians and officials from the Tory government during Brexit.
Many are Anglophiles, brainwashed for years over British pragmatism, consensus, fair play, restraint etc. Now they have had a glimpse behind the curtain and are “dumfoonert”.
One recalls during indyref1 how these self-same Anglophiles (and the key is Anglo-) praised Great Britain and harangued Scots not to leave, how it would deny us continued membership of the EU, despite the fact that we were members. We in Scotland know the real Westminster, and its antics and power grab have just revealed its nasty side to be even nastier. Well, the EU “ken noo” alright.
They backed a loser in perfidious Angleterre. They too were mesmerised by the myth and mystique of Westminster! Well, reality has caught up with the EU. Hence we can say that the EU is truly “scunnered”.
Theresa May, in her outburst claiming to stand up for the people being thwarted by these MPs, has indeed outed herself as being nastier than nasty, forgetting that she failed to consult during the last two years and relied on underhand tactics with bribes and bungs! She does not speak for Scots, as we voted to remain in the EU.
