A NEW record has been set for the UK's warmest February day.

The thermometer reached 20.3C at Trawsgoed in Ceredigion, west Wales, beating the previous record of 19.7C recorded in Greenwich in 1998.

The Met Office also said it was the first time the temperature has exceeded 20C in winter.

A new February record maximum temperature was also recorded in Scotland last Thursday, when Aboyne in Aberdeenshire hit 18.3C (64.94F) at 1.39pm. The previous record was 17.9C (64.22F) in 1897.
