A TOP tourist attraction is asking visitors to imagine what could have been on the bucket list of Mary Queen of Scots before she got the chop – be it tucking into a Greggs’ vegan sausage roll or paying a visit to a tattoo parlour.

Scottish actor and comedian Karen Dunbar, pictured right, has launched the Edinburgh Dungeon’s search for the top ten suggestions for Mary’s bucket list. It comes after the attraction introduced a new Mary experience called “The Cursed Crown” to its 70-minute tour of terrifying tales from Scotland’s bloody past. As with all dungeon shows, a roster of professional actors take it in turns to play a range of characters. In this case all 15 female members of the team play Mary – with performances 30 times a day during regular opening hours. Dunbar has a cameo role in the movie Mary Queen of Scots – as a commoner in the congregation of John Knox’s St Giles’ Cathedral. As the mean-spirited minister (David Tennant) casts doubt on the Queen’s moral character, Dunbar’s peasant character yells: “Death to the hoor,” after which the crowd bays for Mary’s blood. In a short online film accompanying the bucket list launch, Dunbar tells viewers: “Since her death is imminent, we need you to come up with a Mary bucket list. We’re looking for the top ten things Mary would like to do before she’s deed!”
