AN SNP MP has accused the Prime Minister, her predecessor and the Leave campaign of "deception".

Speaking ahead of the Commons vote on Theresa May's plan B, Joanna Cherry gave an impassioned speech in which she attacked the Prime Minister for getting herself the mess she currently finds herself in.

She concluded that the only way out of this mess is for a second EU referendum and that the only way for Scotland to escape is to hold a second independence referendum.

Cherry said: “I ask myself, Mr Speaker, the following question: What kind of Prime Minister spens months, years negotiating a deal, then supports someone else’s amendment that drives a coach and horses through it?

“We’re in this mess Mr Speaker because of the Prime Minister’s red lines. We’re also in this mess because of deceit and foolishness on the part of the Conservative and Unionist Party.

“Another famous Scottish writer once wrote: ‘Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive’.”

Cherry went on to point to the deception from David Cameron when he called the EU referendum “and thought he could win it with the sort of scare tactics that were employed in Scotland during the independence referendum”.
