SCOTLAND’S first independence-supporting radio station goes live today, and the honour of being the first guest on the opening show at 12pm is going to the editor of The National, Callum Baird.

Available on the internet at the website indylive.radio, the new station is already up and running with what co-founder Kevin Gibney has called a “soft launch”, but at noon today the Norrie Hunter Show will feature the first contribution from someone outside of the Independence Live group, officially starting the station.

It will be a 24/7 operation, with The National assisting in the news gathering and dissemination of a station which promises to feature Yes groups from all over the country in various programmes.

Baird said: “It’s great to be the first guest. I’ve always thought it as part of The National’s role – as the only newspaper which supports independence – to do whatever it can to help promote other pro-indy media. The more platforms we have, the better.”
