SCOTTISH acting star Douglas Henshall has responded to Brexit chaos at Westminster by demanding a second independence referendum “now”.

Known for his roles as Professor Nick Cutter in the science fiction series Primeval and detective Jimmy Perez in the crime drama Shetland, Henshall shared his view as he watched the Tory government reel from an unprecedented parliamentary defeat.

Theresa May’s government is now facing a no-confidence motion, tabled by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn – who has failed to confirm whether his party would support or oppose Brexit in the event of a General Election.

Like many onlookers in Scotland, which voted overwhelmingly to remain in the EU, Henshall took to Twitter to vent his frustrations.

"Can we have Indyref 2 now please? Because I’ve had it with this shit. #indy2,” he tweeted.

Asked if the current turmoil at Westminster made the original independence vote result seem "much more tragic", he replied: "YES!"

As seems to be becoming a common occurrence, his vision for an independent Scotland left those south of the Border looking on enviously.
