KIERAN Tierney won't be risked while be battles a back problem and Brendan Rodgers couldn't rule out an operation for the player.
The 21-year-old sat out the games at Aberdeen and Ibrox, where he was badly missed, but while he was on the bench for the derby, the left-back wasn't fit enough to be involved.
Tierney is in Dubai but has not joined in with his team team-mates so far and it remains unclear when he will be back playing again.
Rodgers said: "Kieran is still not training. But he’s out here with us and with the rehab team so hopefully next week we’ll see if there is any reaction when he starts training.
"It’s probably a wee bit of the amount of games but also just natural. His injury record is very good obviously apart from when he’s had breaks and stuff.
I just don’t think there’s a need to really push him through it and inject it and put him in pain every time. He just needs to take a wee breather. He’s in good hands with the medical team and we’ll see how he is next week.”
"I’m not sure (if he needs surgery). I think we are just monitoring it and we will see how he is.”
Odsonne Edouard and Olivier Ntcham have been carrying knocks but Rodgers is not worried about them.
He said: "Odsonne will join in the training in the latter part of the week. Olivier felt his hamstring tight yesterday in training so he’s going to have a scan on that. I’m not sure it’s serious but he just felt it tightening.”
"It may be something slight but we shall see."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
