Given the correlation between Tory austerity policies and the startling rise in food bank use, it's already a bit of a joke to see Tories giving food bank donations as a bid to regain some good will.

However, if you ARE going to attempt to sidestep around the fact that your political party is responsible for the crisis that food banks are dealing with, the least you could do is take the time to write up your own reasons for donating.

Four separate Scottish Tory MPs have taken to Twitter to seemingly show off their spontaneous decision to drop off a donation for their local food bank.

Yet on closer inspection, it appears that they may have been operating on orders from Tory HQ, since each MP tweeted almost the exact same message...

Ross Thomson, John Lamont  and Kirstene Hair all began their message of support with "Today I visited Tesco...", while both Hair and Luke Graham rounded theirs off with encouragements for "donating any life-long food to your local store".

Poor effort, folks...
