THERESA May has been forced to admit her “thoughtless and insulting comments” were wrong after being confronted by an SNP MP.

Last week during a speech to business leaders, the Prime Minister claimed that EU citizens had until now been “jumping the queue” ahead of other immigrants.

She was roundly criticised for the comments at the time and today, during a debate on the Brexit deal in the House of Commons, was asked to apologise by SNP MP Philippa Whitford.

Though May stopped short of an apology, she did admit that she shouldn’t have “used that language”.
