1. Ashton Lane Winter Wonderland. Free. The charming Glasgow West End lane is being transformed into a magical Winter Wonderland as Santa and his reindeer fly in for a visit from 2pm to 5pm today. Round up all the family for a fab festive outing and look forward to meeting Santa’s reindeers, Elsa and Anna. Enjoy free face painting, Christmas music in the lane, festive food and pop-up bars serving delicious winter warmers, plus a Santa’s Grotto and ginger bread-making
class for the kids. Under a canopy of twinkling fairy lights, and with 10ft Christmas trees lining it, Ashton Lane is one of Glasgow’s most magical spots with a host of great bars and restaurants.
2. Sneakarbootsale at SWG3. Free. The event will take place quarterly at SWG3 in Glasgow with the first event today. The Boot Sale will have a traditional feel about it but with a lifestyle/sneaker twist and a relaxed, casual feel. Vendors will be trading directly from their cars or vans and will be selling anything from sneakers, clothing, vinyl records, skateboarding and snowboarding equipment, bikes or bike parts, collectable toys, magazines, books, posters, art and pretty much everything else in-between. As well as vendors there will be food kiosks, coffee and home baking, and beers available for the adults.
3. Dundee – Reclaim. A march to raise awareness and to demand an end to gender-based violence, meeting at McManus Galleries at noon on Saturday. Following the march, there will be a community event at the Dalhousie Building, where there will be inspiring young activists speaking and performing, as well as hot drinks, tasty cakes and a raffle. The march will be led by the incredible feminist drumming band, SheBoom!
4. John Byrne in conversation at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh on Wednesday. A chat with the man himself, interviewed by photographer and film director David Eustace. Byrne’s chat coincides with his Rogues Gallery exhibition, which runs at the academy until December 23.
5. We Should Hang Out More and BAaD present special guest Marc Rebillet. A hilarious comedy/disco mash up. A disco-soaked soundtrack of tunes and a journey into New York’s trippiest mind. All details at

6. A find! The cutest, tastiest, hippest little cafe ever. Llicorella on Clarence Drive, Glasgow ... and it sells wine! It smells like Christmas and the main man behind the counter, James, is a total sweetheart (he bakes his own yummy bread). This Christmas let’s take time off from the retail chains and think local. Pop in, scoff the best sandwich in the world – the Montoya – and snap up some Christmas foodie gifts.
7. The Stemettes Christmas Hack, DXC Technology, Erskine. Free. A totally unique and exciting event for girls aged between 5 and 22 who are interested in the STEM subjects. It’s a chance to learn code, with no prior experience necessary. December 1 and 2,
