THE nominees for a fantastic celebration of Scottish traditional music at this year’s Trad Awards in Perth have been revealed.

Among those shortlisted for the prestigious Album of the Year category are The Poozies, Ross and Ali, Duncan Chisholm, Blazing Fiddles, Skerryvore and Julie Fowlis.

Meanwhile, the Gaelic Singer of the Year category sees Maeve Mackinnon, Josie Duncan, Eilidh Cormack and Ruaridh Cormack all nominated, while Live Act of the Year will got to Elephant Sessions, Niteworks, Karine Polwart, Talisk or Findlay Napier.

In the Folk Band of the Year category, previous winners Daimh face competition from Paul McKenna Band, Imar, Ryan Young and Jenn Butterworth and Kinnaris Quintet. The National is even up for an award in the Trad Music in the Media category alongside The Groove is not Trivial, BBC Scotland’s Pipeline and Scots Radio.
