3 Paisley’s big Christmas light switch on is next Saturday, with the excitement starting at 12 noon. There’s lots to do all day, including the Santa parade in the early afternoon and an urban Christmas market. Paisley goes big with holidays and celebrations and this will be no exception. The artists for the day are X-Factor stars the Cutkelvins, and the actual light switch-on should be around 6pm. Free event. Head to Paisley Abbey and surrounding areas.

4 Untold Stories. Women of Faith and Women of Colour in the Suffragette Movement. Wednesday from 6pm until 10pm. A free event at the Scottish Storytelling Centre. 45 High St, Edinburgh. Grab some food, enjoy some forgotten history and have some meaningful dialogue.

5 The all-new Edinburgh Craft Beer Experience comes to the Assembly Roxy at Roxburgh Place, Edinburgh, this week from Thursday until Saturday. Tickets start at a very affordable £8 and include a specially designed schooner glass, a token for your first drink and access to all demos and masterclasses. 6 Dundee Jazz Festival. The hip, cool and jazz lovers are heading to Dundee this week, from Wednesday to Sunday. Various venues and artists ranging from American blues legends Otis Taylor Band and Alvin Youngblood Hart Solo playing a unique version of Delta-inspired country-blues, to the history of classic jazz presented by the Scottish Swing Orchestra and the Flyright Dancers with their brand new show, Kings of Swing. There’s also a celebration of Miles Davis’ (above) music with Richard Ingham’s Birth of the Cool Ensemble and one of the UK’s most exciting Afrobeat purveyors of jazz, Nubiyan Twist.
