WESTMINSTER’S Scottish Affairs Committee will hold a one-off evidence session on plans for a new BBC Scotland TV channel.

Chairman Pete Wishart said the committee will hear from the BBC about their proposals and will be looking into what the channel can deliver for Scotland; how it will reflect the views and issues that matter to Scotland; and what opportunities it presents for Scotland’s creative industries.

Views are also being sought from the public. Sunday, December 2 is the deadline for written submissions.

SNP MP Wishart said: “The new channel presents an opportunity for current affairs to be told from a Scottish perspective, but it must be carefully considered and appropriately funded.

“My committee will hear from the BBC, but we want to make sure we hear from the public about their views too.”
