RESCUE Labrador Tom needs work with a serious wound on one of his front paws and Otis the
four-year-old French bulldog has suffered an accident while being chased by another dog. Professor Noel Fitzpatrick diagnoses a spinal problem in Otis’s neck that requires surgery. Meanwhile Bailey, a 10-year-old cocker spaniel, has a lot of pain in one of his hind limbs but his owner wants to avoid surgery and Noel needs to perform specialist imaging before he can offer any solutions.
Grand Designs, Channel 4, 9pm
DEEP-SEA diver Adrian Corrigall and his wife Megan plan to build their new home in Sussex almost entirely out of concrete, with construction involving cutting-edge technologies conceived in Switzerland and never used to build a house before. However, the perils of being a pioneer soon become evident, and with both schedule and budget under strain, Adrian is forced to resume work, taking him away from the project for a month at a time.
Trust, BBC2, 9pm
WHILE Ridley Scott’s recent movie All The Money In The World featured terrific performances from Christopher Plummer and Michelle Williams, his take on the 1970s Getty kidnapping only scratched the surface of the tale. However, this slick mini-series was waiting in the wings and thanks to a great performance from Donald Sutherland as J Paul Getty, it has been one of the TV highlights of the autumn. In episode seven, Old Paul (Sutherland) tries to follow through on his plan; Gail (Hilary Swank) grows hopeful, but Big Paul (Michael Esper) obsesses about quarrels of the past.
Trevor McDonald And The Killer Nurse , STV, 9pm
BEVERLEY Allitt was a 22-year-old nurse who murdered four children in her care in 1991 and attacked nine more at Grantham Hospital in Lincolnshire. Trevor McDonald re-examines the case 25 years after he reported on her conviction. He is given access to Allitt’s police interviews and tracks down several of her surviving victims. They include Bradley Gibson, who was five years old when Allitt tried to kill him. Now 32, he speaks of how his heart stopped beating for 32 minutes, long after many doctors would have given him up as dead.
