2 The 25th year anniversary of the World Porridge Making Championships, on October 6 at Carrbridge. Thirty competitors from all over the world compete for the coveted prize. There is a bar, whisky tasting, food market, pipers, books and, best of all, it’s free.

4 Justice for Sheku Bayoh Rally. The death of Sheku Ahmed Tejan Bayoh while in police custody in Kirkcaldy has left his family fighting for justice and the prosecution of the officers responsible. 5 Frightmare. An Aberdeen adult inflatable space at the beach (it’s the largest in Scotland), Frightmare is a haunted house of hell every weekend in October. 7 Dynamic earth explores the Dark Side of the Moon next weekend.
