IN honour of National Afternoon Tea Week, a Scottish golf course is serving up the ultimate “tee”.

From August 13-19, Turnberry is serving its unique take on the UK tradition on the greens of The Ailsa golf course.

The “tee” will include three tiers of sandwiches and cakes, and finished with scones, clotted cream and strawberry preserves, as well as Turnberry’s own special blend of tea.

Guests can choose from the tradtional offering and two specialist afternoon teas including Sparking Afternoon Tea served with a refreshing sparkling wine, or the Hendrick’s Gin Afternoon Tea served with a Hendrick’s Tea Presse Cocktail.

Afternoon tea is usually available in the hotel’s The Grand Tea Lounge and Bar, with views across the Irish Sea to Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran.

The menu is created by the Scottish Food Awards 2018’s Pastry Chef of the Year, Andrew MacKay and his team.
