JOHNNIE Walker has announced the launch of Blue Label Ghost and Rare Port Ellen, the second in a series of special releases to mark closed or “ghost” distilleries.

At the heart of this limited edition is the Islay single malt, Port Ellen, a “ghost” distillery that shut its doors in 1983. To recapture this spirit, Johnnie Walker master blender Jim Beveridge and his team hand-selected seven of the rarest expressions of individual whiskies, of no less than 20 years of age, from the company’s Blue Label reserves and intricately crafted them to balance the unique character of Port Ellen.

“It’s a fleeting, fascinating glimpse into another time, exploring the unique, inimitable character of whiskies from a small number of iconic, closed distilleries often referred to as ‘ghost’ distilleries, that lend something very special to every drop of Johnnie Walker Blue Label,” Beveridge said.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare is bottled at an ABV of 43.8%.
